The authenticity of Banksy’s art has been debated for years, with many pieces being reported as fake. Now a London auction house is offering the chance to buy fractional shares in some genuine artwork – and it will be possible to trade them on secondary markets too.
The “banksy” is an artwork that was originally created by the artist Banksy. Now, it is available for fractional sale on the “Particle Offer Up”.
Several notable initiatives have recently developed that employ NFTs to establish physical ownership of real-world items. Particle, an NFT firm focused in delivering multi-million-dollar treasures to regular collectors, is one notable acquisition.
Particle secured $15 million in startup investment during the summer, with the majority of the proceeds going toward purchasing an artwork by iconic graffiti artist Banksy. “Love is in the Air,” the piece in question, cost them a whopping $12.9 million. In lieu of a molotov cocktail, a stencil painted protestor throws a bouquet of flowers.
The business has now divided the work into 10,000 “particles,” each of which is represented by an NFT, and plans to sell each one for about $1,500 in the next year, giving a concrete ownership experience for those who aren’t wealthy. Following the sale, owners may keep the NFTs or sell them on the secondary market, while the original artwork travels around the globe to art shows.

Particle is the idea of Loc Gouzer, the former Head of Contemporary Art at Christie’s auction house, and it is based on a desire of owning art that was formerly out of reach. They may give a secure means of keeping multi-faceted ownership of an artwork by applying the fractionalization process using NFTs. All the while, using the Avalanche blockchain to manage an efficient and scalable project. As a consequence, the Banksy auction is the first of many to be held on the site.
