An NFT is a digital asset that exists on the blockchain, and investors can purchase them for cash. One of the first NFTs to hit the market was CryptoKitties, which caused an unprecedented surge in value for its keyholders. Now Neil Gaiman’s story about pushing out into winter night with nothing but your coat and boots has been put up as an online auction:

“Neil Gaiman’s ‘What You Need to be Warm’ Film Auctions as NFT” is a film that was released in 2017. The film is an adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s short story “What You Need to Be Warm”. This article talks about the movie and how it can be bought as an NFT.

Neil Gaiman's ‘What You Need to be Warm' Film Auctions as NFT

Neil Gaiman, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees’ (UNHCR) goodwill ambassador, is auctioning an NFT of his acclaimed poem’s film, ‘What You Need To Be Warm.’ The profits from the auction will be donated to the UNHCR in order to help the many Afghans who have been displaced as a result of the Taliban’s takeover.

The Mara Panda NFT Charity Auction is auctioning off the NFT film, which is a cinematic version of Gaiman’s humanitarian-inspired poetry, with a starting price of 38.5 WETH (about $118,500). In addition, the winning bidder will get an exclusive ‘explainer’ film outlining the project’s growth, an autographed copy of Gaiman’s ‘The Sandman’ comic book, and a customized greeting.

In addition to donating 100% of the revenues to UNHCR in support of vulnerable Afghans, 20% of the resale value of any future sales of the NFTs in question will be contributed to UNHCR as well.

The auction was created with the sole goal of enabling writers, artists, NFT influencers, and sportsmen to use NFT auctions to make money. Khaled Hosseini, author of ‘The Kite Runner’ and ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns,’ and artist Dan Williams, who jointly provided 17 original ink and watercolour images from Housseni’s short book ‘Sea Prayer,’ are among the project’s other contributors.
