On March 30th, OpenSea user ‘jdizzles’ made a historic purchase from RedBean DAO member and renowned Azuki NFT holder, ‘trevault.’ It was the buyer’s second record-breaking NFT purchase, since they paid a stunning 200 ETH for Invisible Friends #1125 last month, a sum never seen before in the collection.
The deal also shatters the previous Azuki NFT sales record of $560,000.
The project’s creators, LA startup Chiru Labs, debuted the 10,000 asset collection in January, but it has already become the most sought-after anime-themed project in the sector, generating over $500 million in OpenSea sales in its first two months of operation. The project’s appeal may arise from its offering of access to a corner of the internet where art, community, and culture merge to create enchantment, as stated by the creators.
As expected, interest in Azuki #9605 has remained high following its high-profile sale, with a current bid of just over 60 ETH (242% above the collection’s 17.65 ETH floor price), but as economics would suggest, a reinstated record-breaking bid will likely be required to wrest the asset from jdizzles’ grip.
